Hotel/Restaurant run by the renowed Ruth Watson (TV's Hotel inspector). Ideal for those looking for something a more sophisticated than pub dining.

It serves excellent locally source food, specialising in seafood and has a good wine list, with main courses at around £15.00 - £20. We enjoy a quick cocktail or G&T in the bar or infront of the fire on a cosy chair before enjoying dinner!

Foodwise you will find simple dishes such as Orford lobster salad; Snape asparagus with hollandaise sauce; Orford-caught skate with brown shrimps and capers; or strawberry jelly with strawberry ice. In winter, it may be Suffolk pheasant with lentils and wilted greens; slow-roast Suffolk pork belly with cabbage and bacon; or hot bitter chocolate mousse

Getting there :

Turn left in Sudbourne and drive into Orford, just beyond the Kings Head pub turn right in the town square where you can park. The Crown is on the left just before the small lane which takes you to the Castle.

Opening hours :

Dinner 8.30 onwards. Light snacks for lunch eg. smoked prawns or an omelette.
